Stopped by hoover on the way home today at around 4:00pm. First I hit
Oxbow island and saw some good waterfowl;

Lesser Scaup - 1
Am. Widgeon - 8
Ruddy Duck - 40
Mallard - 8
Wood Duck - 4
Bonaparte's Gull - 40 or so
Ringbilled Gull
Herring Gull
Horned Grebe = 4
D.c. Cormorants - 50
Tree Swallow - 1
Osprey - 2

Then I went to the board walk and wow, that place is seriously flooded!
Nearly all the good shorebird mud has been covered by water agin, I
felt like I'd gone back in time to a few months ago. All that rain we
had makes a big difference. Searching high and far and wide found only
1 shorebird, a Spotted Sandpiper wich I haven't seen in months either.

Spotted Sandpiper - 1
G.W. Teal - 2
Mallard - 5
Canada Geese
Same gulls as above
GBH - 10
Pied-billed Grebe - seen in the newly flooded mudflat area
Belted Kingfisher - 2
N. Flicker - 1 very lovely looking male
White - throated Sparrow - 40s
C. Chickadee
N. Cardinal
Carolina Wren
Am Robin.
Golden Crowned Kinglet

   Good birding,
Ben Warner
