Since I have other commitments and probably won't get to bird this weekend,
I'd just like to pass on a couple sightings from the UP as a reminder this
is a great time of year for something totally weird to show up, and folks
should keep their eyes open, so that I may live vicariously through them as
I sit in this office:

-End of September, a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher showed up on Manitou Island.

-Last week, a Rock Wren was briefly present and photographed in Munising

-Also last week, a Green-tailed Towhee showed up at a feeder of a birder in
Marquette, and is still present

-a Vermillion Flycatcher showed up at a feeder in Big Bay, Marquette county,
since the 11th - a second state record.

Now, I know the UP is far away and more likely to get the western rarities
than us, but it's a good reminder that sometimes, birds just show up where
they feel like it. So, here's hoping somebody gets a great Ohio rarity!
