Every day, last past week, I have sighted a Peregrine Falcon perched on
the Cingular billboard on the north side of I-480 Bridge over Canal Road.
I usually see it on my way north as I travel to work (around 7:30 AM) and
drive UNDER the bridge along Canal Rd. At the SAME time Patrick Szuch is
driving East on the bridge and spots this same falcon! We discovered this
during correspondence off-line after he reported to the "list" that he
sees this bird as he travels both ways to and from work on the bridge.
Every morning the falcon is perched on the very same spot: the northern
end of the frame for that sign.
It probably is the same bird Clyde Witt and I saw, down below on September
6th and that I saw several times after that. How to account for the weeks
of not seeing it? I've been out of town several weeks and not looking up
high enough!
We are hoping this bird has or will have a mate. We implore all I-480 and
Canal road birders/travelers to help us out and report any sightings you
might have. Good Luck and Happy Birding!
