Greetings from the quiet fields of NW Ohio,

A nice-sized flock of Lapland Longspurs numbering between 200 and 300 swirled overhead at our work site today. We had seen a small flock there last week. Still no sign of Snow Buntings, which often appear in mixed flocks with the L.L.'s and our ubiquitous Horned Larks.

As if that weren't enough excitement for one day, a small chorus of Rusty Blackbirds welcomed us home from our efforts with their lively chatter in a tree in our yard.

'Tis the season, isn't it?

Bird long and prosper!
