On our field trip to Buck Creek State Park (Delorme 66A3) this morning
we found a Red-throated Loon near the south end of the lake. We also saw
about 15 Common Loons, Pied-billed and Horned Grebes, Ruddy Ducks, and a
Hooded Merganser. At the north end of the lake on the mudflats we saw
about 80 Killdeer, 49 Dunlin, 2 Least Sandpipers, and a Wilson's Snipe.
I think the duck season is closed as of Monday so hunters should no
longer be a problem.
