Hi all,

Went birding at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area today. Ducks, Grebes, and Coots probably numbered nearly a thousand individuals. I wasn’t going to even try to count. Here are some really rough estimates:

  American Coot – Couple Hundred
  Hooded Merganser - ~150-200
  Gadwall - ~100+
  Mallard - ~100+
  American Wigeon - ~70+
  Bufflehead - ~40+
  Ring-necked Duck - ~20
  Pied-billed Grebe - ~15+
  Ruddy Duck – ~10
  Northern Pintail – X
  Tundra Swan – 37 (fly-over)
  Bald Eagle – 2 Ad. 1 Juv.
  Northern Harrier – 1

  Also along the causeway:
  Bonaparte’s Gull – XXX
  Common Loon - 3+
Snow Bunting – 3 (on causeway)
  Mallard - ~30
