Hi all,

I was up in the western Lake Erie marsh region today, and saw a nice
movement of Tundra Swans. The first flock of ten was seen flying along the
causeway road that goes back through Magee Marsh, then a short time later I
saw another in-flight group of about 15 along State Route 19 just south of
Route 2. Along 19 a few miles north of Oak Harbor was a tremendous flock
feeding and roosting in some corn stubble fields. There were about 250-300,
and they stand out a long ways off.

Tom Kemp led a field trip early this morning on behalf of the Toledo
Naturalists' Association, and we found some good birds in the vicinity of
Maumee Bay. There were two Greater White-fronted Geese in with a big pack of
Canada Geese on the lawn at the state park. We also had two Common Loons
near here, and in the vicinity located two Long-eared Owls. Four tough Great
Egrets were still sticking it out near the Bayshore Power Plant, as were
five Black-crowned Night-Herons.
