Hey all -

Spent a beautiful morning and afternoon along the
lakefront. I began the day at Edgewater Park where I
did not locate the Brant, at first, but did see 6 SURF
SCOTERS and had a LAPLAND LONGSPUR fly in and land on
the bluff. I returned later to see the BRANT.

From there I proceeded to E. 72nd St. where the
first-winter BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was already scoped
out among the Bonaprte's Gulls. It was towards the
west end of the flock and was still in this same
general area when I returned later in the day.

Sim's Park had a raft containing all three scoter
species. I didn't get exact numbers but White-winged
appeared to be the most common, followed closely by
Black, with a couple Surfs in the mix. There were
about 20 birds total.

Finally, I discovered a MOURNING WARBLER on private
property near Cleveland to round out the day. Given
the time of year, I gave MacGillivray's very serious
consideration, but the eye-ring was quite narrow and
barely broken...and everything else seemed consistent
with Mourning. It was an adult female. I will
provide more details to those who are interested...I'm
not sure what the late date for Ohio but this has to
be close. Other birds in this area included Peregrine
Falcon (1) and Winter Wren (1).

Good birding -
