When I arrived at East 72nd Street on Sunday afternoon the word was that
observers had been unable to find the bird. I left the bridge to check
the east end of the park and then return to my car for my scope, by
which time the others had given up. As I was walking to the bridge,
however, a helicopter came over and scared up the gulls on the lake and
also drove a number of birds over from the plant. Once they resettled I
easily found the kittiwake, which suggests that it may be spending time
across the street at the plant.

I also stopped by Tyler Road and had a wonderful view of the Ross's
goose. Headlands was pretty quiet, though.

Good birding.
