I'm happy with the current listserve rules. There appears to be enough lattitude for not-strictly-on-topic posts if a person isn't sure a post fits or has a general question.  (Example - I posted a request for private comments about readers' experiences with a particular Florida guide; I got several positive revues and have signed up for his trip as a result.)

  I would not support the expansion of the list to include captive/pet bird topics.  I'm sure there are discussion groups which specialize in it.

  I do hope beginners find the list useful and not intimidating.  If I'm wrong, I hope beginners who feel left out offer suggestions for improvements - to the process itself and, if necessary, to posters' attitudes.
