Since Mr. Slater is back and we villagers can put away
our pitchforks and torches, I thought it might be
apropos to ask why there is a persistant belief by
some that Ohio-Birds is a "sightings-only" service.
When Vic Fazio began the listserv, did he have such a
restriction? Or have sightings reports so dominated
the postings that some members have mistakenly
inferred an restriction?

The answer, of course, has no practical importance,
since the current guidelines allow other topics.
However, the anthropologist in me can't help wondering
about the origin of myths.

Cheers,

Paul Gardner
