For the third year in a row, a female Merlin has returned to Old St.
Joseph's Cemetery in the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati. Last
year it was seen on Nov. 19; in 2004 it was first seen on the 20th.
In 2004 a male was also present on at least one occasion.

Now if it will only be kind enough to fly the short distance to my
yard. I had a couple of fleeting glimpses of distant small falcon
silhouettes last winter. We certainly have a few House Sparrows we
could donate to her diet.

I also drove a few miles west to New St. Joseph's Cemetery in hopes
of finding another Merlin (why not?). No luck but a juv. Red-tailed
Hawk gave wonderfully close looks from the driver's seat.

A nice way to add 40 minutes to a 20 minute errand.
