Went to Slate Run SE of Columbus yesterday at 4;30 PM. This is a
beautiful wetland but was relatively bereft of waterfowl yesterday.
Perhaps I was too late in the PM. Saw the following
1. Tree Sparrows 8
2. Black Duck 4
3. Mallards 4
4. Blue Heron 2
5. Kingfisher 1
6. Red Winged Blacknird, female 1
7. Canada Goose 1 ( don't know where its mate was)
8. Red bellied woodpecker 1
9. Cardinal >6
10 Mourning Dove 6
11 Multiple sparrows flitting about but did not stay still long enough
for ID

I wondered if anyone has seen many owls in the area. There is a nice
grove of pines up on the ridge but I haven't been up there recently. Did
not see anything flying at dusk.

Thanks for all the help on the list. I did get to see the Western Tanager
last Saturday. Phillip
