Concerning the status of tanagers on Ohio CBC's.

There are several records for these neotropical, migration challenged birds
as observed on our CBC.

The written record (CBC publications) shows the following single bird
records.

*Summer Tanager*

                Reported at Hamilton-Fairfield in 2000.
*Scarlet Tanager*
A count week bird was recorded in 1997 at Grand
Rapids-Waterville. (assumed to be 1 bird)
*Western Tanager*
The first record for this species was made at Mentor in
1971.
*tanager sp. *
A tanager unidentified as to species was recorded at
Cincinnati in 1998.

In any case congratulations on the 2nd occurrence of the Western Tanager. It
is undoubtedly the best documented of all observations of the group.
