We made it down to Columbus today, Dec. 20, and had the Western Tanager
at 1650 Ridgeway Place at about 12 noon. The bird was in the crabapple
tree in the front yard and then dropped down into the evergreen bushes
(taxus?) in front of the house. We got very good looks as it moved
around in the evergreens. At one point it flew down to the ground after
something and it later perched in full view in the deciduous tree left
of the entrance way. We had spent about 1.5 hours searching at the
Merrick & Fairview location and on Ridgeway before we finally found the
bird.
