Since my family had our Christmas Saturday, I braved the rain to do a
little birding today.

At Longbreak Wetland in northern Hardin County I found ~800 MALLARDS
with a few BLACK DUCKS mixed in, plus one A. WIGEON and 7 N.
PINTAILS, a couple hundred CANADA GEESE and 23 LAPLAND LONGSPURS.

At Killdeer Plains in Wyandot County I found more of the same
waterfowl plus 78 TUNDRA SWANS (at least I think they were all
Tundras, it was raining pretty good) and saw 3 SNOW GEESE (white
phase), which flew off as I arrived.  These (both the swans and
snows) were in the eastern most basin at Killdeer (sorry, my Delorme
is out in the car and I don't want to go back out into the wet!).  I
also found two SHORT-EARED OWLS in the group of pines off of T. H.
108.
