My Most Excellent (tho non-birding) Husband agreed
graciously to forego our traditional Christmas morning
ritual to drive ever so slowly back and forth on
Commercial Point Road west of SR 104 (northwest of
Circleville) looking for the rumored snowy owl.
Because we were creeping along with our flashers on, a
nice young man pulled up beside us to ask if we needed
help. When we explained we were just hoping to spot a
snowy owl, he said, "Oh, I just saw it yesterday--it
was perched on top of a telephone pole up ahead. Is
it yours?" I replied regretfully that it was not, and
today indeed it wasn't. Maybe some day! Pam Unger
