These two sites had plenty of common species, but little that would be unexpected at this time of winter.  A hike around the Dripping Rock Trail at Highbanks had large numbers of flock birds (chickadees, titmice, white-br.nuthatches) along with woodpeckers.  The areas around the Cheshire causeway at Alum Lake had a similar set of birds, though not as numerous.  Waterfowl were absent from Alum Reservoir, largely due to hunters, but small flocks of bluebirds were along the shore at several locations.   There was also a small flock of mixed gulls along the causeway, including several Bonapartes and a Herring mixing in with the expected Ring-bills.
