The Ohio State University Museum of Biological Diversity will sponsor a
free lecture at 730 pm on Friday 9 February in Independence Hall on the
OSU campus, by Mark Norell, curator and chairman of the Division of
Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. His
topic will be Gobi Desert dinosaurs and their relationships to modern
birds. See one of his earlier articles at
http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/0701/0701_feature.html for a preview of
the evolutionary transition of small feathered dinosaurs to birds.
On Saturday 10 Feb, the Museum (1315 Kinnear Rd) will welcome the
public between 10 am and 4 pm for tours and activities. Curators and OOS
volunteers will greet you at the bird collection, and at collections of
other higher vertebrates, fishes, insects, plants, mussels, animal
sounds, etc., others will be available to explain the collections,
identify items, and answer questions. Supervised children are welcome,
too. Maps, parking, etc. can be found at http://www.osu.edu/map/ .
