We've also had a flock of hundreds of robins in downtown Oberlin for the
past few days. They appeared suddenly a couple of days ago. We usually
get this every winter. I've always assumed that these are winter
residents that wander around the area as a fairly cohesive flock, such
that they are here for a few days and then gone for the next few weeks.
Does anyone know if this is the explanation? I guess the alternative is
that they are waves of migrants, but it seems like an odd time of year
for that.
