JAN. 16, 2007 - Lunchbreak in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. (Drive Wetmore Rd. to Akron Peninsula Rd. to Bolanz Rd. to Riverview Rd., stop and scan the Towpath beaver pond, Riverview Rd. to Everett Rd. to Oak Hill Rd. to Major Rd. to Riverview Rd. to Rt. 303 to Akron Peninsula Rd. to Quick Rd. and out of the C.V.N.P.
TIME: 12:00pm-12:40pm TEMP.: 33 COND.: Light snow and bright turning to cloudy and heavy snow around Peninsula. OBS.: Douglas W. Vogus.
I. MAMMALS: 2 SPECIES.
1. Coyote - 1 (field at the end of Quick Rd.)
2. White-tailed Deer - 2 (doe)
II. BIRDS (Highlights)
1. American Black Duck - 11 (9 at beaver pond, 2 at Quick Rd. duck pond)
2. Northern Pintail - 1 (male at beaver pond)
3. Belted Kingfisher - 1 (male at beaver pond)
4. Purple Finch - 1 (male just south of the Oak Hill parking lot entrance along Oak Hill Rd.)
Hooray - Winter lives! - Douglas W. Vogus, Akron, Ohio (working in Cuyahoga Falls)
