This afternoon my wife and I followed up on Rick Asamoto's posting of Lapland Longspurs and Snow Buntings in and near a field at the junction of Cornstalk and Houston Roads. We did not see the huge number Rick and Shane Eggleston found but we had great looks at both species along with lots of Horned Larks. A scope was required since the birds were deep in the field off Houston Road. They fly around a lot but never went far and always came down to feed within sight. Thanks to Rick and Shane for tellimg us about this special treat.

Winter Cheers. Larry Gara, Wilmington
