Today at Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area (Trumbull) we had the following birds
of interest:

Wild Turkey - 40
Redtail Hawk - 8
Redshouldered Hawk - 1
Northern Harrier - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
American Kestrel - 1
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Northern Flicker - 2
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 4
Downy Woodpecker - 1
Eastern Bluebird - 7
American Tree Sparrow - many

Also unusual was a male Northern Cardinal that apparently had no tail. The
bird was able to fly so hopefully he'll be able to survive.

A drive down Calla Rd. (Mahoning county...i think) yesterday yeilded

Ring-necked pheasants - 2
Wild Turkey - 1 close to the road, and a large group too far to count.
Redtail Hawk - 12
Red shouldered Hawk - 2
Northern Harrier - 1
American Kestrel - 1
Eastern Bluebird - 9
Northern Mockingbrid - 2

noticeably absent were any horned larks.

till next time
