Hi ! This is my first posting, so here goes. Last Wednesday while snowed
in at home, I observed 2 adult beautiful red-shouldered hawks sitting
side-by-side on a branch of a tall tree in my yard. It was a thrill to see
2 hawks together like that, let alone the red-shouldered variety. This was
along Price Road in the northeastern portion of Hocking County. I suspect
that there may be a nest in the pine stand across the road on Wayne National
Forest property, because I saw an adult and immature hawk over there earlier
this year. The younger one was on the ground, as if it was learning to fly.
I've seen these hawks from a distance most of this year, but couldn't type
them until last week. There are also a couple of Barred Owls over in that
general direction that call to each other every once in a while. They all
stuck around for the backyard bird count !
