Greetings------a flock of 100+ red-winged blackbirds put down in the backyard this morning 2/22 and munched on corn under the feeders. Interestingly, the flock was about evenly divided between ad. males, females, and imms. No early singing males are around here yet. Local birding here (Lowellville area, Mahoning Co.) is pretty good recently, producing: lots of Canada geese but nothing different with them, up to 24 wild turkeys in the same cornstubble field along Rte. 422 near the PA line, red-shouldered hawks, Am. kestrel, brown creeper, e. bluebirds, a few Am. robins, n. mockingbirds, hundreds of Am. crows, and whie-throated sparrow. It was almost like a blizzard tonight, but Spring is close!! Later, Craig
