Took a drive along county roads NW of Fremont. Saw many Horned Larks along
roadways and in corn stubble fields. Counted over 50 in a 8-mile stretch
of CR's, mostly in small groups of 2-3, with many single ones. Also,
behind the Fremont Water filtration plant within the city limits, I see an
immature Bald eagle frequently perched in the trees along the Sandusky
River. The output stream (25 feet wide) is warm water from the filtration
plant and remains open during winter. Saw thousands of "shiners" in the
water. Many RB gulls there, and at dusk mallards and diving ducks enjoy
the man-made feast.
