A female RING-NECKED PHEASANT has been hanging around my bird feeders and
taking shelter in the dried weeds and grasses around my garage the last two days.
(Feb. 4 & 5) I first saw her on Jan. 7 in my unmown side yard/field, but she
didn't stick around long that day. Yesterday (Sun.) she was present all
morning and into the early afternoon. She was back again at 8am today (Mon.) She
has been eating white millet and black oil sunflower from the ground feeders,
but she also jumps up to an open platform feeder containing a lard-peanut
butter-oatmeal-cornmeal mixture. I put down cracked corn in the field, but she
doesn't seem interested. I hope she survives these frigid temps.
