I stopped by E. 72nd Street briefly today to access the gulling and ice
conditions. There was not much Larid diversity while I was there (five
species). Ring-bills were still the most numerous gull. However, the
frigid weekend weather that is predicted could make things more
interesting. A thin ice shelf is starting to form within the breakwall.

Present (not a complete list):

Mute Swan - 6
Am. Black Duck - a few
Northern Shoveler - male and female
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Common Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
Pied-billed Grebe
American Coot
Bonaparte's Gull - 50-75
Ring-billed Gull
Herring Gull
GLAUCOUS GULL - 1 adult
Great Black-backed Gull

Surprisingly, I did not pick up a Lesser Black-backed.
