I spent an early lunch hour hiking along the bikepath/levee in Berliner Park, along the Scioto River just south of downtown Columbus. The river here is below the Greenlawn dam, and the increased flow keeps the water partially open even in bitterly cold conditions like today. Clustered in or around the various open pools were a good assortment of waterbirds including
Great Blue Heron - 6
Canada Goose - 150
Mallard - 30+
Black Duck - 8
Bufflehead - 1 female
C.Goldeneye - 22
Hooded Merganser - 12
Pied-billed Grebe - 9
Ring-billed Gull - 40+

Landbirds along the trail included nothing unusual except for a Red-tailed Hawk and a Hairy Woodpecker.
