Elinor Elder and I braved the frigid cold today and went to the Eastlake Power Plant today. Wind and visibility were terrible! We were still able to drive down to the fishing pier. We were the only ones there. As the mist cleared, you got little windows of visibility. Most numerous were common mergansers, followed by red-breasted mergansers. Rough count of 15 greater black-backed gulls. Lacking in other ducks. Only mallards and possible one red-head through the mist. We got kicked out as they were blocking off the pier from on top of the roadway. You now have to park on top and walk down. Even gull numbers were down. Herring gulls were the most common. We were there around 9:45AM. Stopped at Chagrin River Park but nothing much to mention. Came home and found two lovely bluebirds in my backyard.
