Hi to all from Cleveland Metroparks CanalWay Center in Cuyahoga Hts. For
the past 2-3 years, including this year, CanalWay Center has had a flock of
red-winged blackbirds making their winter residence here. This year's flock
numbers 25 males and one female. The males have been heard calling their
typical spring calls for the past few days now.
Also seen at our feeder is a cowbird.
An immature red-tailed hawk has been seen by staff and many park visitors as
it perches in trees and on lamp posts near the center. He and a Cooper's
hawk have been hunting the feeder all winter.
