Yeah those Killdeer are working their way north. I saw and heard them
all over Delaware Co. today and then also around Killdeer Plains this
morning we saw/heard 6 or so. Also there several big flocks of
blackbirds around Killdeer Plains and Delaware Co. including many RUSTY
BLACKBIRDS, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, and COMMON GRACKLES. There have been
a lot of Turkey Vultures around and further north as far as Mansfield
etc. lately too. Killdeer Plains is starting to thaw, and a few open
areas on the ponds (and even the very flooded fields) held waterfowl in
decent numbers. It was the first time I'd ever seen a group of 8+
LESSER SCAUP in a flooded corn field, plus RINGNECK DUCKS, and other
ducks seen around K.P.W.A. included AM. BLACK DUCKS, N. PINTAIL,
MALLARDS, RED-HEAD, CANVASBACK, AM. COOT, HOODED MERGANSERS, etc. Also
seen there today was the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, 2 EACH DARK-PHASE
ROUGHLEG HAWKS AND LIGHT PHASE, N. HARRIERS (1 adult male to about 10
female/juv.), 3 adult BALD EAGLES, 2 KESTREL, 6 RED-TAILED HAWKS.

   GOOD birding, :-D
