Hi all,

I took a short trip to Mosquito Lake this morning for a couple hours. Most of the north part of the lake is frozen except for an area right along the causeway where I had:

  Pied-billed Grebe – 1
  Mallard - ~10
  American Wigeon - ~15
  Canvasback - ~6
  Redhead - ~15
  Ring-necked Duck - ~500
  Lesser Scaup - ~50
  LONG-TAILED DUCK – 1 adult female
  Common Goldeneye - ~60
  Bufflehead - ~10
  Common Merganser – 1
  Red-breasted Merganser - ~20
  Ruddy Duck – 3
  Bald Eagle – 1 Juv.

Highlights around Mosquito Creek Wildlife Area, the north end of the lake:

  Rough-legged Hawk – 1
  Bald Eagle – 2 Ad. 3 Juv.
  Northern Harrier – 3 males
  Wilson’s Snipe – 6

Also on Pintail Pond there were a few ducks including Ring-necked Ducks, Northern Shovelers, Hooded Mergansers, Mallards, Lesser Scaup, Buffleheads, and Canvasbacks.
