Yesterday looked like the best day weather wise of the week so I went birding.

My first stop was Metzger Marsh. Lots of ducks, mostly Canvasbacks, fair numbers of Scaup, saw 1 Long-tailed duck. Swans too far away to ID. Saw a Horned Grebe. Swamp Sparrow along the road.

Ponds East along Route 2 mostly loaded with ducks, mainly same species. One field had 3 oversize puddles, each with a Killdeer at it.

Went south at road across from Ottawa NWR. Not much. 3 Horned Larks & 1 adult Bald Eagle in the middle of a field eating something.

Saw both Trumpeter & Tundra Swans at Mc gee Marsh, Few ducks, coots & RW Blackbirds.
  Did see an Iceland Gull.

Next stop old bridge across Sandusky Bay. Few Ducks, mostly Cans & Scaup.

Went north 4 miles to Dempsey Boat Launch. Fair Number of ducks, mostly Cans & Scaup, also small group of scoters, including 1 Surf Scoter. This is where I saw the Little Gull. It was probably sitting on the shore & when I drove up it flew north. First I've seen in Ohio.

Saw 1 Harrier on Cousino Road on way to Maumee Bay SP, flying over a field. First stop at Maumee Bay was at Nature Museum, which was closed, so I looked over the fence at feeder area. There, at the edge of the pond, sitting in the hole of a Wood Duck Nest Box was a Screech Owl.

Drove around park. Lots of RW Blackbirds sitting in trees waiting for mama to arrive. Saw a Red tailed Hawk in campground, also group of teal at one of the ponds there. One was a Blue Winged Teal. Drove home.
