A check of the wetlands between rain showers this morning turned up the following birds:
Canada Goose 88
Wood Duck 11
Gadwall 21
Am. Wigeon 24
Am. Black Duck 47
Mallard 122
Blue Winged Teal 2
N. Shoveler 89
N. Pintail 268
Green Winged Teal 189
Ring Necked Duck 155
Lesser Scaup 145
Bufflehead 27
Hooded Merganser 3
Pied Billed Grebe 2
Horned Grebe 7
N. Harrier 1
Am. Coot 105
Killdeer 47
Ring Billed Gull 5
Short Eared Owl 1
N. Flicker 1
E. Phoebe 1
Horned Lark 17
Tree Swallow 13
Am. Pipit 68
Lapland Longspur 117
E. Meadowlark 24
The 2 Cackling Geese seen last Saturday were not found this morning.
It's unbelievable that killdeer is the only shorebird at this area. Usually by now I've gotten at least 6 species of shorebirds.
Longbrakes' is on pg. 47 of DeLorme, 4,5-B 2 miles south of Forest, Ohio
