Blackbrook Audubon of Lake County had a walk this
morning and after the walk and lunch some people went
to Veterans Park on Hopkins Rd in Mentor (Lake Cty) to
see the ducks that have been there. (Anders & Joyce
Fjeldstad, Tom & Alice Feran, Jeanne Hrenko, and
myself and Helen Baber) Seeing the ducks was
distracted by a large Turkey Vulture and Hawk
migration moving east along Lake Erie. There was a
bonus of 8 SANDHILL CRANES. There wasn't much wind
and some of the birds came in real low but after an
hour cooler wind came from the north and moved some of
the birds further inland but the weather changed again
and more birds were visible. Here is what was seen:

13 Kettles of Raptors:

528 Turkey Vultures
Bald Eagles 2 (1st & 2nd year)
Sharp-shinned Hawk 2
Cooper's Hawk 1
Red-shouldered Hawk 9
Broad-winged Hawk 12
Red-tailed Hawk 9
American Kestrel 2
Merlin 1
24 Un-ID's Buteos
Sandhill Cranes 8

Tree Swallows - 6 or more new today

Also there were those ducks:
Wood Ducks - flew over
Northern Shovelers
Ring-necked Ducks - many many
Gadwall-few, American Wigeon-few, Scaup, Bufflehead,
Ruddy Ducks 3 or 4, American Coots, Horned Grebe, Mute
Swans
