Yesterday started out foggy here on the island but later the fog burned
off and it turned into a beautiful day. Lots of Turkey Vultures made the
trip north across the islands yesterday (counted over 100 for the BSBO
Hawk Watch.)Also saw about a dozen Tree Swallows flying over the Lake
feeding on midges. Norma Wasson had reported seeing the first one on the
island last Sunday. A large mixed flock of Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead,
Redheads, and Lesser Scaup were seen just off Middle Bass. A few
Ringnecked Ducks, Red-breasted Mergansers, and a Belted Kingfisher were
seen as well.
