Since March 11, Susan Jones and I have been monitoring a Red-shouldered Hawk nest easily visible
from the Hike and Bike Trail in northern Summit County, 300 yards south of where the trail intersects
with Holzhauer Rd. (DeLorme 41 6B) The nest is on the west side of the trail, about halfway up in the
tallest tree, equal distant between the two powerline towers. Birds are visible with binoculars,
however, a scope improves the experience.

On our check of the nest March 25th we were treated to our first Eastern Towhee of the season.

Clyde Witt
