There was a good variety of waterfowl this afternoon at Sandy Ridge reservation of the Lorain County Metroparks.  Dominant species were American Coot and Ring-necked Duck with both species numbering at least a couple hundred.  The water level was rather high with no shorebird habitat and consequently, no shorebirds.  Species seen today:

  American Coot
  Pie-billed Grebe
  Horned Grebe 3
  Canada Goose
  Gadwall
  American Black Duck
  Mallard
  Northern Shoveler
  Green-winged Teal
  Ringed-necked Duck
  Lesser Scaup
  Bufflehead
  Ruddy Duck

  Other birds:

  Belted Kingfisher
  Turkey Vulture
  Red-bellied Woodpecker
  Hairy Woodpecker
  Downy Woodpecker
  Brown Creeper
  Golden-crowned Kinglet
  White-breasted Nuthatch
  Song Sparrow
  Red-winged Blackbird

  Rocky River (Cuyahoga County)
