The Franklin County prothonotary warbler reported to the mailing
list on Thursday was not seen at Carriage Place Park, but rather
at Sawmill Wetlands Education Area. This Division of Wildlife
property is located in Columbus on the north side of Sawmill
Place, east of Sawmill Road and west of Bent Tree. It does look
like decent habitat for a prothonotary warbler, but the area is
fenced, gated, padlocked and signed "Entry by Appointment (614)
644-3925". I walked the perimeter of the wet area about 5:30 PM
today but saw no sign of a warbler. There is an active
red-tailed hawk nest.
