Subject: eBird Report - Winton Woods , 3/29/07

Location: Winton Woods
Observation date: 3/29/07
Notes: Mallard pond - many dead standing trees with multiple woodpecker
holes, one tree with thirty plus holes held no less than five occupying
starlings. Another tree with red-shouldered hawk nest had a pair of flickers
courting at nest hole just above hawk nest and a pair of downies nesting
just below the hawk nest. A male red-bellied was removing wood chips from a
hole in another tree. No red-headed woodpeckers were detected. A Canada
goose on a nest rounded out the breeding evidence, and two wood duck pairs
and one mallard pair were also present at this pond.<br>Kingfisher trail and
Sycamore Valley were the other locations within the park that were birded.
The phoebe was at Sycamore Valley in an area that contained a small bridge
over a rapid flowing stream. Another male wood duck seen from Kingfisher
trail.
Number of species: 19

hawk nest at mallard pond. Hawks not seen but fresh greens in their nest.

bridge here so birds will likely nest.
