A quick check of Longbrakes this morning between rain showers produced the following birds;

Canada Goose 244
Am. Wigeon 5
Am. Black Duck 7
Mallard 33
N. Shoveler 5
N. Pintail 27
Green Winged Teal 8
Canvasback 9
Redhead 14
Ring Necked Duck 19
Lesser Scaup 1
Great Blue Heron 1
N. Harrier 7
Red Tailed Hawk 2
Rough Legged Hawk 1 Dark
Killdeer 25
Wilson's Snipe 1
Bonaparte's Gull 2
Ring Billed Gull 9
Horned Lark 23
Tree Swallow 2
Am. Pipit 5
Am. Tree Sparrow 33
Field Sparrow 5
White Crowned Sparrow 1
Lapland Longspur 2
E. Meadowlark 10

The marsh was still about 95% frozen.
A somber sight was the feathered remains of 7 different short eared owls. I suspect great horned owls may be the guilty parties. I've seen Long eared Owls in Columbus in the mid 80's that were picked off one by one by local great horned owls.

Longbrakes is located Delorme pg. 47 4-5 B.
