Shawnee State Forest: April 12, 8am-4pm Birding without my camera - birds of note


   2 Broad-winged Hawks hunting next to the rd,
   3 Great Egrets in a flooded field near Portsmouth, Oh
   2 Wild Turkeys
   3 Pileated Woopeckers
   2 Sapsuckers
   nearly two dozen Gnatcatchers both on the ridges and bottom-lands
   6 Louisiana Waterthrushes
   8 Black-and-white Warblers
   3 Pine Warblers
   1 Hooded Warbler singing along one of the ridge tops along rt 9 only for a few minutes before moving on.
   Also several Brown Thrashers, loads of Towhees, and typical numbers of more common birds.
