A weekend trip to visit relatives in Northeast Ohio provided my first glimpse of Bufflehead ducks in the lake at the former YMCA camp along St. Rt. 306. The camp is now a Bainbridge township park. There was a male and a female in the lake both days and my in-laws reported that they had been there for a few days before. There was one other duck with them which appeared to be a Ruddy duck, although I was not able to get close enough to be sure. Rose breasted grosbeaks are a common sight here as well, but none have returned yet. There are also a pair of kingfishers there and last summer the lake was home to a yellow warbler. Pictures are posted at www.flickr.com/photos/dhejmanowski.
