A few highlights from 04/14 in & around CVNP & 04/15 Portage Lakes area.
04/14 CVNP (7:30am-11:15am)
1. Coyote - 3 (all hunting together at Coliseum Grasslands)
2. Red Fox - 1 (with a meadow vole near Hale Farm & Village)
3. American Kestrel - 2 males (1 at Bath Nature Preserve & 1 at Coliseum Grasslands)
4. Wild Turkey - 1 (lone gobbler along Oak Hill Rd. near covered bridge)
5. N. Rough-winged Swallow - 1 (mixed in with 23 Tree Swallows at Ira Beaver Marsh)
6. Winter Wren - 1 (along Oak Hill Rd. near C.V.E.E.C.)
7. Savannah Sparrow - 1 (at Our Lady of the Elms ballfields off of Ira Rd.)
8. Eastern Meadowlark - 6 (1 at Elms ballfield, 3 along Hametown Rd. near Ira Rd. and 2 at Coliseum Grasslands)
04/15 Nimisila Reservoir/Portage Lakes area (9:00am-10:30am)
1. Wood Duck -  17 (12m,5f)
2. Mallard - 28
3. Blue-winged Teal - 4 (2m,2f - Nimisila)
4. Greater Scaup - 5 (2m,3f - West Reservoir)
5. Lesser Scaup - 4 (2m,2f - West Reservoir)
6. Bufflehead - 3 (1m,2f)
7. Red-breasted Merganser - 100+
8. Ruddy Duck -  55
9. Osprey - 5
10. Peregrine Falcon - 1 (male in downtown Akron)
11. Bald Eagle - 1 (adult male at Nimisila)
12. Common Loon - 1 (Nimisila)
13. Pied-billed Grebe - 12 (Nimisila)
14. Horned Grebe - 3 (Nimisila)
15. Bonaparte's Gull - 6 (5 at Nimisila, 1 at Turkeyfoot Lake)
16. Double-crested Cormorant - 54 (North Reservoir)
17. Tree Swallow - 75+
