The migrants haven't returned to Spring Valley, but the birdwatchers have. I
was one of at least nine birders nosing around various parts of the wildlife
area (location here<http://www.ohiobirds.org/birdingsites/showsite.php?Site_ID=87>).
The wind was blowing hard enough to make scanning from the observation tower
an exercise in character-building. The coot population is still holding at
about 500, down from over 1,000 ten days ago. Frank Frick and I heard at
least two Soras and both of us independently heard at least two Sandhill
Cranes as we were returning to the boardwalk parking lot.

Other sitings included a flock of seven yellowlegs (sp) flying over the
observation platform and a House Wren at the feeding station (which still
doesn't have any feed in it).

Cheers,

Bob
