Magee is pumping down the impoundment on the west side of the causeway, creating shorebird habitat. THANK YOU ODNR! Today had killdeer, both yellowlegs, dunlin, Wilson's snipe, pectoral sandpipers there. Also along the causeway, pied-billed grebe, both teal, gadwall, northern shoveler, ring-necked duck, swamp sparrow. Along the boardwalk, yellow-bellied sapsucker, downy woodpecker, northern flicker, ruby-crowned kinglet, hermit thrush (2), brown creeper (4), yellow-rumped warbler (1 !), rusty blackbird (also 1).

Also had a savannah sparrow along Krause Rd. (off Rte. 2 between Magee and Metzger) and a sandhill crane overfly Howard Rd. (off Rte. 2 west of Metzger).

The flooded area on Benton-Carroll Rd at Rte. 2 had a subset of the Magee causeway list.

  Craig Caldwell, Westlake.
