Hi all,

There are a few spaces available for this year's Ohio Ornithological Society
annual conference, which will be held on the weekend of May 18-20 at Mohican
State Forest near Mansfield. This is a staggering beautiful place, and is
heavily populated by interesting birds. All of the nesters will be back by
then, which includes a number of hemlock-dependent rarities like Winter
Wren, Canada Warbler, and Hermit Thrush. The total list of breeding birds
for Mohican exceeds 100 species in any given year. That should be a good
time of year to pick up later migrants, too, such as Mourning and
Connecticut warblers, and Yellow-bellied Flycatcher.

Keynote speakers are Steve McKee, who probably knows more about Mohican's
biology and habitats than anyone, and the incomparable master of sounds, Dr.
Donald Kroodsma. Don wrote the book, The Singing Life of Birds, which is a
modern classic.

As always, there will be plenty of great field trips led by topnotch
birders. If you choose to learn more about the conference, go to:

Hope to see you there!
