Drove up and found the Surf Scoters today. They are on the North Shore of the lake, very
close to the shore actually with a mixed flock of assorted divers, mostly Scaup, Bufflehead,
and Ruddy Ducks (at least 200 birds). I viewed them from the pull off on Gas Road at the
Northern part of the dam, but I believe that Picnic Area #2 & #3 would do as well. Two
raptors are worth mentioning, Osprey and Sharp-shinned Hawk. Osprey was flying over the
water and the Sharpie was flying over area #3. I saw yellow-rumped warblers and fox
sparrows last time I was there on Monday.
