I began birding before 7 am, in hopes of seeing a green heron, with no luck.
I birded all morning, resulting in 46 species, so I'll only list the
highlights:

Warblers:

Louisiana waterthrush - saw or heard 7 (count them, seven - the most I've
ever had at BHG)

Yellow-throated warbler - heard, but my poor auditory memory required a
sighting before I ID'd the first one. Then heard two others

Prairie warbler - one, in the power line right of way

At least three pairs of blue-gray gnatcatchers

Osprey - it's back! About mile marker 2 on the bike trail, where I saw it
almost every time I walked last summer. Still don't see any nest, though.

Swallows:

Tree

Bank

Northern rough-winged

Sparrows:

Swamp

Fox

Chipping

Song

white-throated

Eastern towhee

Junco

Woodpeckers:

Red-bellied

Northern flicker

Hairy

Downy

Pileated

Still lots of drumming going on.

At the wetlands across from Black Hand Gorge (actually part of the Dillon
wildlife area, but in Licking County):

A pair of hooded mergansers

Many wood ducks, all male. I'm guessing the females are using the multitude
of duck boxes

A single blue-winged teal on the river, of all places

I didn't make it to the far west end of the bike trail, nor did I drive up
to the overlook to scope the eagles nest. However, when I was there earlier
this week, I observed what I believe was activity related to feeding a
nestling. I did not actually see an eaglet, but a parent flew to the nest,
and appeared to be tearing something apart and feeding it to a nestling.
